About Guest Paddling

Guest Paddling - About Guest Paddling

Keauhou Canoe Club now offers guest paddling to relatives and friends of KCC members. If you are a registered KCC member in good standing, you may sign up to bring family or friends for an individual recreational paddle session when seats are available.

Guests must be registered by, and paddle with, their hosting member.

Guest Paddling Limits

Members may host guest paddlers up to 3 times per year and are responsible for tracking the number of guest paddles.

  • A guest may paddle up to 3 times per calendar year.
  • Maximum 3 guest paddlers per session.
  • Guests must be at least 11 years old.
  • All guests must wear professional-quality flotation devices (PFDs).
  • No donations, payments, or fees are accepted in connection with guest paddling.
  • The managing Beach Coordinator is the final decision point for any questions about limits or participation.

How to Request Guest Paddling

To qualify to host members, a Keauhou Canoe Club member must be a fully-paid adult member in good standing.

  • Submit guest paddling requests by text only to the Beach Coordinator for their selected paddle.

Do this when you sign up for a selected paddling time slot.

  1. Login and go to the Upcoming Paddling Sessions page.
  2. Select your paddling time, then click in the round "i" to the right of the selected paddle to display the Beach Coordinator for that paddle.
  3. Text information directly to that Beach Coordinator.

Send your request at least 24 hours before the paddle (or by noon the day before).

  • Include complete guest information in every request:
  •         Full name
  •         Age (must be over 11)
  •         Level of paddling experience

Important:

Incomplete requests will not be considered.

Approval is first-come, first-served based on when a complete request is received. There is a limit to 3 guests per session, when space is available.

Waiver Requirement

Every guest must complete and sign the club’s insurance waiver before paddling.

  • Hosting members are responsible for ensuring waivers are completed.
  • Blank waivers are available onsite in the Beach Coordinators’ blue binder.  They are also in the Documents section of this website.
  • Hand your signed waiver to the Beach Coordinator before the session starts.

The club stores waivers for insurance purposes.

Additional Requirements

  • Guests must be competent swimmers and able to get in and out of the canoe without assistance.
  • Guests must paddle with their hosting member.
  • New paddlers must paddle in a double hull canoe with their hosting member unless approved by the Beach Coordinator.

Guests must arrive at least 15 minutes before the paddle to:

  • Fit equipment
